Connecting and Healing Through Meditation

Have you ever felt that you bird was trying to tell you something?

Is he upset about something? Does he not feel up to himself? What makes him happy or sad? Why is he suddenly biting you? In this article, we will begin to explore some ways you can learn how to mentally connect with your pet bird and what he might be trying to communicate to you.

We've all heard the stories: Every day, a pet cat jumps up into the windowsill, several minutes before it's owner arrives home from work; a pet dog barks just before a certain person calls on the phone, as if knowing who was making the call; a pet parrot who has learned to talk says the correct responses to what his owner is thinking. Then there's the scenario of when a beloved pet, somehow lost on a family trip, miraculously finds its way home, sometimes traveling hundreds, even thousands, of miles.

How are these things possible? Do our birds, perhaps all animals (and even some humans), possess an innate psychic ability which allows them to tune in to human brainwaves or sense the future? Or, are our pets simply more sensitive to visual, aural, magnetic, and other subtle environmental factors and changes, and, because we as humans are not aware of these subtleties, do our pet's actions seem miraculous?

I believe that animals and humans have innate psychic abilities. Some humans "forgot" how to use these abilities and must "redevelop" them, but our pets have always maintained their innate abilities.

Sonya Fitzpatrick, a well known animal communicator, says "people often think my ability to talk to animals is magic. All humans have this ability, they just don't know it. Anyone can talk to the animals, and the best pet owners already do." Here are Sonya's secrets to her successful communication with the animals and some simple steps to making a psychic connection with your pet from her book What the Animals Tell Me.

  1. Begin with a calm and tranquil mind, and seek out a calm and tranquil atmosphere for you and your animal.
  2. Say your animal's name telepathically to get his attention.
  3. Visualize your animal as you say his name.
  4. Send a mental picture of his physical body....direct this to him, along with his name.
  5. Ask if there is anything your pet would like you to do for him. Imagine your animal is sending an answer back to you and accept whatever you receive in your imagination.
  6. Always acknowledge the answer, whatever you receive in your imagination.
  7. Continue to ask him other questions and remember to trust your imagination for what you are receiving back from your animal.

Guided meditation is a method that I find very effective for connecting and meeting with your pets. The meditation that you will find below would be extremely effective if you either have a friend read the mediation to you (so as to allow yourself to concentrate on getting to where you need to be and receiving answers), or taping the mediation in your own voice (so as to be able to readily play it whenever you find the need to communicate with your pet.)

When you are ready to begin, sit on a comfortable chair with your feet flat on the floor. To help your body relax, breathe in, hold, breathe out, and hold again, each for a count of three. Do this exercise a few times until you are completely relaxed, and then simply breathe deeply and slowly. Close your eyes and let your mind clear. If you have any stray thoughts pop in, acknowledge them, enclose them in bubbles, and then let them float out of your head.

Meditation to connect with your pet bird

Visualize yourself surrounded by a white light, and make sure you visualize it behind you and above you as well as in front and to the sides of yourself. (We are shielding with the white light to be able to release energy, so energy should be allowed to flow through the shield from you. You can also allow positive energy to flow in: your shield is intended to block all negative energies.)

Sitting comfortably, with both feet flat on the floor, relax. Picture a grounding cord that begins at the base of your spine, runs down through the floor, through the ground, and all the way to the center of the earth, where it is attached. Now that the cord is created, let all excess energies flow out of you through the cord, back into the earth. You will also want to refill the space vacated by the energies. Imagine the space filling with happiness, peace, love, sunshine, -- anything you wish. (This is one way to ground yourself.)

Imagine yourself in a lush, green valley. Take a look around you, and acknowledge what you see. Are there trees, birds, flowers, other plants? The sun is shining, and you feel the warmth on your face -- notice the beautiful color of the sky, and whether or not there are a few puffy clouds.

You begin to walk through the lush valley, and you come to a gently bubbling stream. Taking the path along the stream, you come to a bridge, where you cross to the other side. The path now continues into the trees on this side of the stream, and you begin to hear the sound of a waterfall somewhere up ahead. You soon come upon a magnificent waterfall with a large gentle pool at its base. Take a moment to look around you once again. Notice how peaceful it is here -- the soothing sound of the water is relaxing, and the beauty of the nature surrounding you is uplifting. Enjoy the peace that you find here.

As you are enjoying this place that you have come to, you notice that someone has joined you. You turn to see your pet bird. Notice the details of your bird's appearance. How beautifully he is and how magnificent his feathers look. Say your birds name to get his attention. Visualize your bird as you say his name.

Look at your bird's physical body. It is now time for the two of you to talk. If you would like, you can sit on one of the large rocks at the edge of the pool and dangle your feet into the water while you talk with your pet bird. Thank your bird for coming to meet you, and say his name. Ask your bird if there is anything he would like you to do for him. Imagine your bird sending an answer back to you and accept whatever you receive in your imagination. Always thank your bird for the answer. Your bird may wish to share some other information with you during this time. Continue to ask your bird other questions, and trust the information you are receiving back from your bird.

Now would be a good time to do any Energy Healing that your bird may need. Always ask him if he is open to receive the healing energy transfer that you would be channeling to him. Wait for his answer, if he is not open at this present time, do not send, and try again at a different time. But if you bird is open at this time now would be the time to send him the healing energy transfer.

Whether you use:

it doesn't matter. Your bird will be receiving Universal Life Energy through each of these modalities. Your bird will let you know when to stop by indicating in a way he would in the physical realm, through a sound, a movement, etc.

Once you have finished visiting and sending him healing energies, thank him for sharing this time with you. As you leave the clearing and are walking back along the path, notice once again the beauty and peace of your surroundings. Take that back with you as you return to your chair, and complete your mediation. Allow the peace and beauty to become part of you and the answers you have received, and the let the healing energy transfer you have done guide you to a closer relationship with your pet.

You can use this meditation whenever you want to speak with your bird, or when you want to do energy healing with your bird. The bird or pet who wants most to contact you, or share information with you, is the one who will come through. In some cases, you may meet more than one pet -- just know that your pets will present you with what they need you to know at that time.

Remember, just as with shielding and grounding, there are many variations to mediation and meeting your pets. No one method is better or worse than another; personal preferences play a large part in what works best for each individual. Feel free to change your place of meditation to surroundings that suit you best.

So, thank you all for reading my article and I hope you enjoyed it and learned a little something. If you have any questions, you can e-mail me at BaBaBooo@aol.com (just please put Holistic Question in the Subject line.) Namaste': I honor the place in you in which the entire universe dwells. I honor the place in you which is of love, of truth, of light, and of peace. When you are in that place in you, and I am in that place in me, WE are one.....
